Client Profile:
Peppermint Energy (based in Sioux Falls, SD) develops and distributes an innovative mobile solar power source. The product, Forty2, is in over 30 countries. The mobile unit uses solar power to do things like refrigerate medicines and provide light.

Sencore Contract Manufacturing Service (CMS) provides contract design and manufacturing solutions.

  • Turnkey manufacturing
  • ISO9001: 2008 certified
  • US based 92,000 sq. ft. facility
  • Printed Circuit Board Assembly, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Complete Electronic Assembly, Logistics,
  • Engineering

Situation:
Manufacturing & Technology Solutions (MTS) was engaged by a local South Dakota company to help identify the criteria and capabilities needed in a contract manufacturer and material suppliers. MTS worked closely with the client company’s business and engineering leadership to begin the process of identifying needs, gaps and selection criteria of raw material, tooling and contract manufacturing capabilities. MTS identified multiple contract manufacturers from within their network that were qualified to support a startup company taking the product from an engineering prototype, to pilot units, to shippable final products for customers.

Solution:
MTS outlined and benchmarked core selection criteria to help ensure Sencore was a good match for Peppermint Energy. Sencore’s process capabilities, equipment, capacity, engineers, supply chain personnel, and technical experts provided the resource and confidence needed for Peppermint Energy to hit their product delivery requirements.

Testimonial:
"The Peppermint project was an example of bringing together great Partners (Peppermint, MTS and Sencore) to create a successful business venture for all parties. The MTS team was able to clearly identify Peppermints needs and how they matched up with our capabilities."

~ Dana Nachreiner, Vice President of CMS

Results:
This partnership resulted in significant sales lift (over 35%), over $100k in cost savings and provided for increased efficiency, time to market and capitalization on the latest manufacturing technology which would have been feasible if Peppermint had to pursue internally.
